1. General Support for the Art Department

  • Assisting the Production Designer, Art Director, Set Decorator, and other art crew.

  • Communicating information between departments (Props, Set Dec, Construction, Locations, etc.).

2. Office & Administrative Tasks

  • Maintaining paperwork such as purchase orders, petty cash logs, call sheets, and art department schedules.

  • Organizing the art office, printing/distributing plans, research references, mood boards, and concept art.

  • Handling phones, emails, and keeping track of department needs.

3. Research & Visual References

  • Gathering inspiration images, period references, design materials, and practical research requested by designers.

  • Creating basic presentation decks or boards.

4. Running Errands

  • Picking up materials, props, tools, set dressing pieces, and returns.

  • Transporting items between set, shops, storage, and vendors.

  • Handling purchases and keeping receipts organized.

5. Assisting on Set

  • Supporting set dressers during setup, adjustments, continuity checks, and breakdown.

  • Coordinating last-minute needs like dressing fixes or emergency supply runs.

  • Relaying notes between the art team and AD department.

6. Organizing Materials & Supplies

  • Tracking and labeling samples, swatches, props, construction materials, or scenic supplies.

  • Maintaining cleanliness and order in production and storage areas.

7. Basic Creative and Technical Tasks (as assigned)

  • Minor painting, crafting, or scenic prep.

  • Assisting with prop modification, aging, distressing, or fabrication tasks (if skilled).

  • Helping prep signage, graphics, or model-making materials.

8. On-Set Continuity Support

  • Taking photos and documenting set dressings to assist with continuity.

  • Ensuring items are placed back correctly for different takes or days.

9. Safety & Workflow Support

  • Carrying heavy items safely, supporting the crew during moves, loading/unloading vehicles.

  • Following film set protocols and ensuring workspaces stay safe.

10. End-of-Production Wrap

  • Returning purchased or rented items.

  • Breaking down and clearing sets with Set Dec or Art.

  • Cleaning, packing, and organizing materials for storage or the next project.
